It’s Twin Films time again (the phenomenon when two movies with virtually identical storylines are released the same year).
The two films at the centre of this week’s discussion are:
Dante’s Peak (1997) and Volcano (1997).
Both came out the same year and both are about volcanos. However, while Dante’s Peak is probably more scientifically accurate (I’m no volcano expert), Volcano is about a series of volcanos erupting in the city of Los Angeles causing all kinds of havoc.
I see these two films much like Deep Impact and Armageddon. They have a similar subject matter but where one is a character based slow-build thriller, the other is a big, loud Hollywood extravaganza (can you guess which is which?)
I like both of these films for different reasons, but which is the better movie?
Have your say in the comments.
