You’ve no doubt all seen that really popular meme where three Spider-Men are stood pointing at each other.
It became particularly popular last year when rumours emerged that all three Spider-Man actors, Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland might be appearing together in the latest Spidey movie, Spider-Man: No Way Home (2022).
If you haven’t seen the film by now, shame on you, but you can’t be mad at me for the following spoilers…
As we know by now, all three actors do satisfyingly appear in the movie together - and what a film it is! Although they subtly recreated this meme in the film (much to the joy of some fans) they recently went one step further and recreated it properly in a studio.
The original meme only has two Spidies in it and is taken from a 1968 episode of the animated series called “Double Identity”. In it one of the web-slingers is indeed Peter Parker - our friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man, but the other is an imposter.
The meme with three Spider-Men surfaced some time in 2011.
