So after watching Moon (2009) last week I’ve been in a Sam Rockwell kind of mood.
I’m a big fan of In Bruges and Seven Psychopaths (both written and directed by Martin McDonagh) but until last night, I hadn’t seen Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri (2017).
It’s from the same writer and director as the aforementioned films and stars Frances McDormand (Fargo), Woody Harrelson (No Country for Old Men), Sam Rockwell (Seven Psychopaths) and Peter Dinklage (Avengers: Infinity War) among others.
If you haven’t seen it here’s what it’s about courtesy of IMDb:
“A mother personally challenges the local authorities to solve her daughter's murder when they fail to catch the culprit.”
Again, I know that synopsis doesn’t really sell the film and to be honest, the reason it’s taken me this long to watch it is pretty much down to the title and not a lot else.
Don’t be put off though!
This film had me hooked after 5 or 10 minutes and it held my attention right until the end.
Everyone involved is brilliant and the plot has some good twists and turns.
My only criticism is that I wasn’t fully satisfied by the ending but I’m still mulling it over. Either way, it’s worth a watch.
P.S. If you still haven’t watched In Bruges or Seven Psychopaths, come on guys, what are you messing at? You won’t be disappointed in either!
Have you seen Three Billboards outside Ebbing Missouri?
Without giving away spoilers, what did you think of it? 🤔
