I watched a film on Sunday night that like many other films, I’ve somehow managed to miss for years.
The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
After years of hearing about how good this movie is and also being a fan of Tim Burton, I really wanted to love it, but I’m still trying to figure out if I enjoyed it or not. 😳
Obviously with it being a Tim Burton production I was expecting it to be dark and quirky and it was, however when it finished I was left feeling a bit unsure.
I loved the animation - that wasn’t the problem. I also enjoyed the story, which makes me wonder if it was the music that I didn’t really like.
Danny Elfman who wrote the songs and the music, as well as providing the singing voice for the main character Jack Skellington, is one of my favourite film composers, but I wasn’t overly keen on the songs in this film.
The fact that I’m so up in the air with this one makes me think I’d enjoy it more on a second watch and that this is just a case of my expectations being too high going in to a film.
Maybe I’ll watch it again next Christmas and enjoy it a lot more...
Seen it? What do you think..? 🤔
