Superior Sequels: The “Dollars” Trilogy

I was gonna ditch Superior Sequels because I felt like I’d covered all of the franchises that contains a sequel that’s considered better than the original.

Then I remembered the “Dollars Trilogy” (or the “Man with No Name Trilogy”).

I’m talking of course about:

A Fistful of Dollars (1964), For a Dollars More (1965) and The Good, The Bad and The Ugly (1966).

I remember my dad watching these films a lot when I was a kid, but I only actually watched each one all the way through for the first time about 15 years ago.

Personally, as good as each one is, my favourite is A Fistful of Dollars but The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is generally regarded as the best film of the three. Its score (or at least the theme) by the late, great Ennio Morricone has to be one of the most recognisable pieces of music ever written.

So which film in this classic spaghetti western trilogy do you consider the most superior?

Let me know down in the comments.
