The two movies at the centre of this week’s Superior Sequels discussion are:
Home Alone (1990) vs Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992).
I was talking about this with a friend of mine yesterday over a couple of beers and we disagreed on which is the best movie.
I love the first film and he thinks the sequel is better. There’s four years between us so maybe it comes down to an age thing...
I watch Home Alone every Christmas without fail. It’s one of my favourite Christmas movies and as much as I like the sequel, it just doesn’t have the same magic for me. Sure it’s set in New York City this time but a lot of the jokes are the same, and as enjoyable as it is, I don’t think it has the same re-watchable quality as the first film - BUT, that’s just my opinion.
Which do you prefer?
Is the sequel to the film that made Macaulay Culkin a child megastar superior?
Have your say in the comments.
