Last night I watched the best film I’ve seen in a while:
Richard Jewell (2019)
Directed by Clint Eastwood, it stars Paul Walter Hauser (I, Tonya), Sam Rockwell (The Way Way Back), Kathy Bates (Misery), John Hamm (Baby Driver) and Olivia Wilde (TRON: Legacy).
The film tells the crazy true story of security guard Richard Jewell, who after saving many lives from an exploding bomb at Centennial Olympic Park, Atlanta in 1996, finds himself the prime suspect in the FBI’s investigation.
For a while now a few people have been telling me how good this film is and that I should watch it. They weren’t wrong!
Of course it helps that Sam Rockwell happens to be my favourite actor at the moment, but regardless of favouritism his brilliant performance as Richard Jewell’s tough, no nonsense attorney comes second only to Paul Walter Hauser’s performance as the title character Richard Jewell himself.
This movie grabbed me right from the beginning!
Clint Eastwood once again proves he’s not only a legend in front of the camera but behind it as well, and at 90 years old you have to be impressed that he’s still working at all, let alone making such fantastic films!
If you haven’t seen this one, do yourself a favour and watch a great film by a great director with a superb cast telling a truly compelling story.
I loved it!
