One Hour Photo (2002)

After watching Bicentennial Man (1999) recently, I was feeling in a Robin Williams kind of mood so decided to watch a movie I’ve wanted to watch for years.

One Hour Photo (2002)

I remember this film coming out and a big deal being made about the fact that it was Williams’ first “villainous” role. Unfortunately, like a lot of films I intended to watch on release I somehow manage to not see it till now.

If you haven’t seen this movie it’s about a lonely and slightly unstable photo technician who develops an unhealthy obsession with a family he regularly develops photos for.

I loved it!

The story is good, it’s tense, clever, in some places uncomfortable to watch and Robin Williams is absolutely superb!

I know everyone sites Good Will Hunting as the highlight of his more serious film career but as far as performances go, he couldn’t be more “against-type” than in this film and he’s utterly convincing. I really felt for his character and I totally believed that he was this extremely sad, lonely and desperate guy.

This is another one of those movies that I’ve found myself thinking about a lot since I watched it at the weekend. That’s always a sign of a good film in my book.

If you haven’t seen it and you like a good thriller I suggest you stick it on you watch list!

Seen it? What do you think?
