Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008)

With Valentine’s Day just a week away, I thought I’d do a few posts about some of my favourite romcoms.

I’ll share one a day with you for the next week and hopefully you can share some of your favourites with me in the comments.

We'll call it, The Valentine's Day Movie Countdown.

I'll kick it off with this one:

Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008)

I absolutely love this film! I’ve seen it loads of times and it’s hilarious!

It’s written by, and stars Jason Segel (I Love You, Man) and co-stars the insanely gorgeous Mila Kunis (Black Swan), Kristen Bell (Frozen), Russell Brand (Arthur), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man) and Bill Hader (It: Chapter 2).

This is what it’s about:

After being dumped by his TV star girlfriend (Kristen Bell), devastated Peter Bretter (Jason Segel) decides to take a vacation at a Hawaiian resort. Little does he know, his ex girlfriend has checked into the same hotel with her new boyfriend (Russell Brand).

I actually never liked Russell Brand before I watched this movie but he’s so funny and likeable in it that I instantly became a fan.

If you’re not a big fan of romcoms you’d probably enjoy this film for the comedy. As much as there’s obviously a romance element to the story, it’s mostly about a guy trying to get over his ex and doesn’t really have a lot of the overly mushy stuff that a lot of typical romcoms tend to be made up of. It’s also pretty relatable.

The Hawaiian location adds a lot to the film too and every time I watch it it makes me want to book a holiday! 😎

As if the film itself wasn’t good enough it’s also got a great soundtrack with Hawaiian versions of songs such as, “More Than Words” and “Nothing Compares 2 U”, as well as the brilliant opening song “Love You Madly” by Cake.

If you haven’t seen this movie do me and yourself a favour and give it a watch. I promise you won’t regret it! 👌

Seen it? What do you think? 🤔
