Film Fact #7:
Jim Carrey was originally offered $700,000 to play the character of Lloyd Christmas in the 1994 comedy classic, Dumb and Dumber. However, as fortune would have it, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective was released the same week the offer went in. The movie did so well at the box office that his agents were able to renegotiate his contract and he ended up getting a whopping $7 million instead! That’s almost half of the film’s budget!
In stark contrast, Jeff Daniels (who the studio absolutely didn't want) was only paid $50,000 for his role as Lloyd's parter in stupidity, Harry Dunne.
